Twisted Kelp incident support unit on deployment

Twisted Kelp / About

Built for the incident.

Twisted Kelp delivers media production, tracking, networking, and radio to emergency services on wildfire and all-risk incidents — and we build the hardware and software behind each service ourselves.

Who we are

Twisted Kelp provides media production, tracking, networking, and radio communications to emergency services during all-risk incidents. We started in networking and connectivity — still our bread and butter — and grew into a full incident-support provider as crews asked us to solve more of the problems in front of them.

We build the tools we deploy: our own STATavl trackers, portable RoIP repeater kits, and the LocateAnywhere platform. Our crews mobilize, set up on site, and stay through the incident so your personnel can run the operation.

Our approach

What we bring to the incident.

Concrete capability, delivered by people who do this work and build the gear they deploy.

01

In-house hardware & software

STATavl trackers, portable RoIP repeater kits, and the LocateAnywhere platform — designed, built, and supported by us.

02

Connectivity & Starlink expertise

Gigabit at ICPs, off-grid links to spike and coyote camps, and deep Starlink optimization — custom mounting hardware and tuned connections that prioritize critical traffic.

03

Rapid mobilization

Crews deploy within 24 hours, set up on site, and stay through changing conditions until stand-down.

04

Works with your systems

We integrate with existing maps, GIS, and PTT services — Motorola WAVE, Zello, Verizon PTT+, FirstNet — rather than replacing them.

In the field

Field engineering, on the incident.

Our crews mobilize within 24 hours, base near the incident command post for the duration, stand up the services, and keep them running through changing conditions — from initial attack through demobilization.
